‘PEOPLE DO NOT UPDATE THEIR WIFI ROUTERS’
Project completed June 2025
Initially beginning as a collage, the work developed into a spoken word poem, and was published in the CCW Writers Collective yearly publication: Force Majeure.
To craft the piece, I looked through right wing newspapers, and directly lifted sentences featuring the word ‘people’ and cut them out and collaged them together. Every line in the poem is one found in a right wing newspaper, my only input was choosing where to finish the line, and the order these are listed.
I was interested in how media is often used as something divisive, and how by using their language, this can be flipped.
